Gmail Notes For Easy Annotation

Everyday I receive so many emails at office. At first, I can keep up with it, I can star it or move it to some labels I have. Also, add several notes on it on my tomboy. But, in the end, I got overwhelmed. Gmail’s integrated task just don’t cut it. Luckily, after googling several keywords, I got landed on this beautiful service called gmail notes. I want to develop some simple greasemonkey script, actually. But, why should I build one, when someone out there already made it and it’s fulfil my needs? ;). This service does what I want. Add annotations to each gmail conversation I have. It even worked on gmail hosted application *YAY!*

Showing 20 Recently Changed Notes On Tomboy

I have a bunch of notes on my tomboy and I want it to be easily accessible from tray icon. But, the default tomboy installation only have 10 recently changed notes displayed on tray. Now, how am I supposed to change it? Downloading the source revealed that it stored the configuration on GConf. Easy enough, fire up gconf-editor and navigate to /apps/tomboy/ and change the value of menu_note_count to whatever number you want. That’s it.

Auto Mount Iso Image Via /etc/fstab

So, you have a cd image and want to mount automatically every time you start your linux? Here, I’ll show you how to do it.

  1. First step is, put your file at some place where you will not move it again. Why? Because you’ll have to adjust your /etc/fstab entry if you move the file. For this tutorial, we will call it /home/cd_images/some_cd.iso
  2. Then, create a folder where you want it mounted. Let’s call it /home/m_images/mounted.
  3. Next step, open up /etc/fstab. Issue this command on terminal: sudo gedit /etc/fstab.
  4. Add this line to /etc/fstab:
    /home/cd_images/some_cd.iso /home/m_images/mounted udf,iso9660 user,loop 0 0

  5. Save your file and restart your PC to see it in action.

Now, you have your cd image automatically mounted when your PC is started.

Using Geany’s VTE

As a PHP programmer and a linux user, I use shell a lot. You may asked, Why did PHP programmer need shell?. Well, I do use PHP, but most of it isn’t for HTML coding. It’s utilities for my job. Let’s say, I depend a lot on PHP-CLI. My job involve, edit script, run it, edit again, running it again, and so on. You see how tedious my job is. But, using geany, I can cut time on switching between editor and shell.

Geany has built in terminal emulator. You can use F4 to focus on it or select it’s tab on the bottom part of the editor. Press F2 to go back to editor area. And here’s the best part, geany is able to execute your PHP file right into the VTE panel. Just use F5, and cursor focus will move to VTE then launch php "your.file.php". Brilliant feature!. Oh, and there’s another use. I have several files on the same directory. With VTE, I can open it by executing command geany "file.i.want.to.open.php" and it’ll opened on current geany instance!.

Disclaimer: All features and command described here is from the latest geany SVN trunk. I know geany that came from repository has VTE too, but I don’t know how it handle PHP execution mode.

Menghilangkan Kategori Yang Tidak Di Inginkan Dari RSS Feed WordPress

Mengaktifkan Kembali Gmail Versi Sebelumnya

Kalau logout dan login lagi ya “welcome to the new face”.

http://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=1
