GoogleMaps vs BingMaps: Way To Go Competition!
I rarely write about the latest news in the internet. In addition to many popular websites that discuss, I also do not have the ability to write on this topic. I had no talent for writing.
However, the latest update about google and microsoft with maps product
from each other makes me wanting to write. Last week, I saw a video presentation by Blaise Aguera at TED event. Honestly, I amazed
because he managed to make Augmented-reality into searchable maps. Please see the video presentation to see how it work. After seeing the video, I feel like microsoft is starting to catch up in this competition. Well,
competition was able to make people creative!
Talk about creative, this morning I was shocked by the news of the latest updates from GoogleMaps. It looks like they too starting to counter it. Indeed, these features are not yet as smooth as bing. It doesn't have video sync and it can't see inside building yet. However, new features that will be announced by both Google and Microsoft in this competition is worth the wait.

WordPress 2.6 Upgrade Experience
Dunno if others have this issue. I've just upgrade my wordpress installation to the newly released version 2.6 "Tyner" yesterday. I didn't check each page, just look at the frontpage and see that it's working. Install gear to have the "turbo" feature, test it and see some positive speed up loading progress.

GPS Tracking Untuk Laptop
Membaca posting om Ryo tentang GPS membuat saya berpikir, kira2 ada gak ya laptop yang menggunakan GPS. Atau GPS tracking device yang cukup kecil yang bisa di embed ke laptop yang sudah ada. Googling sih ada lumayan banyak, salah satunya GPS tracking ini.
Tapi, kalau dilihat dari bentuknya, sepertinya sih masih terlalu besar untuk di-embed ke laptop. Atau memang sampai sekarang belum ada yang mampu membuat device yang kecil sekali?. Sedikit menggali lagi di website yang sama, ternyata ada juga yang 'lumayan' kecil. Karena masih kurang kecil kalau untuk laptop yang sudah ada. Kecuali mau modif body laptop.
Wah, kalau begini berarti harus ada yang membuat laptop yang built in GPS Tracking. Soalnya sudah banyak berita dari teman-teman yang kehilangan laptop. Kan kasian tuh, mungkin harga laptopnya masih dalam jangkauan, ada datanya sudah di encrypt sehingga orang lain tidak bisa lihat. Tapi, tetap saja ada data yang hilang.
Salut untuk PANDI
Gak terasa sudah 2 tahun domain ini berdiri. Sudah dua kali pula mengalami proses perpanjangan. Perpanjangan pertama, tahun lalu, seingat saya memerlukan sekitar 2 hari sejak mengirim konfirmasi pembayaran sampai update status. Setahun berlalu, ternyata banyak juga perubahan kearah positif yang berhasil mereka lakukan. Buktinya, hari ini saya memperpanjang untuk jangka 2 tahun kedepan. 
Hanya butuh 2 menit sejak konfirmasi pembayaran saya serahkan sampai proses update status selesai.
Saya sendiri tadinya gak percaya, soalnya habis mark as read email informasi kalau konfirmasi berhasil langsung muncul lagi 2 email yang memberitahukan kalau konfirmasi tadi sudah di follow up dengan perubahan status.
Pokoknya salut deh, kalau bisa perpanjangannya jangan cuman 2 tahun saja, langsung 5 atau 10 tahun gitu.
What SuperHero Are You?
This morning, I got bored and browsing the web. I found this website that offer fun quiz. Took one called "What SuperHero Are You?" and here I'm, the mighty Super Penguin!!!
Geany
What is geany? is it someone from Aladdin movie? Nope, this is not from any movie. Even it's not somebody's name. It's a GTK text editor. To me, it's by far the best text editor I've use. It has many feature, some of which is symbol (function, class, variable, etc) list, embedded terminal emulator, scribble for writing your note (could be used as snippet panel), build tools. You might wanna say that this feature are all available in other editor. But, geany have one good feature that, well, I would say it as hidden feature that not many editor has it. As a developer you might happen to encounter this condition, where you want to know where's this variable or a piece of text used. You just need to write the information in find dialog and find all in documents. The messages panel will show you in which line this variable is used.
I'm use this editor since the time I discover it. Because it's convenient to test my php / shell script directly from the editor with terminal emulator. Just F4 >> test >> F2 >> edit >> F4 >> test >> F2 >> edit >> and so on. Oh, i forgot to mention that this editor has color chooser dialog for you to pick when dealing with html or css. It also has plugin support. Auto-completion support is available too. So, why don't you try it if you haven't, because it's available in windows version too.
Nothing is 100% perfect. This goes too for geany. I miss a feature that's implemented as plugin on kate, my previous text editor. That's word completion plugin. This plugin work as auto completion but it take a list from text taken from current document. Hope someone implement this plugin for geany soon.
