Do you use android for daily browsing the internet? Is it running ICS (or below)? Using chrome? or maybe stock browser? Though luck! you are in trouble my friend!
Just recently, google discontinued supporting chrome for android ICS (and below). To take it into perspective, just last year, android has 1 billion activation devices. You can imagine how much they have devices activated in 8 months after that. This is only tracking devices installed with google play in it. What about phone that doesn't have google play? So, how much is users that still using ICS or below? data from google's android developer dashboard reported 5.9% still on ICS while about 7% is using the lower version. This record alone translated to around 128 million devices. This is BIG!
But don't worry, there's friend next door that have you covered. Mozilla, with its Firefox browser still supporting android 2.3. It is also secure and doesn't track your online activity like chrome does. Like snippet of the store description:
FAST. Access, browse and search the Web at blazing speeds.
SMART. Share and search just how you like, and keep your favorite Web content a tap away with our most customizable and intuitive features yet.
SAFE. Make sure your browsing stays safe and private with extensive security settings, add-ons and features like Do Not Track.
So, yeah, google might choose to forget users on ICS or below but firefox is here to help them browse the internet savely.
